Ferguson Football Pool Constitution

Definitions:
Constitution: This document
Members: refers to all participants in the Ferguson Football Pool
Matchup: refers to each weekly NFL game
Picks: refers the NFL team a Member thinks is going to win a Matchup and the amount of points a Member allots to the said Matchup
I. FEES:
No monetary fee for entering into the football season
In honor of the league, it’s Constitution, and the Members it comprises, all members must come prepared to congratulate the weekly winner. This should be done no later than the start of the next week’s games.
Each member of league agrees to pay out one six pack of beer to the season winner(s).
II. PRIZES:
Weekly winner(s) can expect to be congratulated, albeit begrudgingly by each member of the league. This reward should be paid out no later than the start of next week’s games.
Season winner(s) shall receive a six pack of beer of their choice from each league member
In the event of a tie, all league members will provide each of the league winners with their own 6 pack of beer
Beer need not be purchased until the end of NFL’s week 17
III. RULES
Original Constitution must be signed and agreed upon in its entirety by all current Members
Any amendments or changes to the Constitution shall require at least a 2/3 vote amongst current league Members.
If changes are made mid-season to the rules, existing rules stand for the remainder of the NFL week. The amended rules will take effect for the start of the following NFL week.
In the event of a rule change, Constitution will be redrafted to incorporate the new rule(s). All league members must sign revised Constitution if the rule change meets the 2/3 vote requirement
League Members will be permitted to join the league at any time during the NFL season. However, any week in which a member does not participate, will be forfeited by said member.
League Expansion:
Expansion of the league requires a two-thirds vote amongst current league members
New members agree to sign the Constitution and abide by its terms and conditions
Weekly Scoring
Each member will score each NFL matchup for that week giving the most amount of points to the matchup they are most confident in.
Members cannot score a matchup with a number greater than the total amount of NFL matchups for the week
Members will not use the same number more than once/week
Weekly Picks for all games starting after 12am EST Sunday must be submitted prior to the start of kickoff of the 1st Sunday game
In case of a matchup that occurs before Sunday, Members need only submit their pick for that matchup. However, pick must still be submitted before said game’s kickoff (i.e. If there is a Thursday night game only need to submit their pick for that game)
In the event a Member does not email or text their picks before kickoff of a NFL matchup, said Member will receive the lesser of:
A) Minus one point for that matchup
B) One point less than any Member scored for the given matchup
Bring it each and every week!
IV. STANDINGS AND SCORING:
NFL Matchups that result in a tie will be scored as a loss
1 point will be awarded to the Member who scores the most overall points for the given week.
If final weekly scoring results in a tie between Members, the point will be divided equally between each of the winning Members
The Member at the end of the season who has the most weekly points will be crowned champion of the season and awarded a point for the season
This Member’s point will be logged in the yearly championship file so that total season victories can be recorded amongst all league Members
If final season scoring results in a tie between multiple Members, the Members will each be awarded a point for the season
Standings and weekly scoring will be recorded and tracked by the nominated league secretary (Bill Ferguson)
Amendments
9/13/2015 –
Members which don’t win or tie a given week shall pay $5 to the seasonal pool. The seasonal winner(s) will be paid out the total winnings from the pool.
All losing members in a given season are required to pay all seasonal debts to the league secretary within 2 weeks of the end of the NFL regular season.
If a member fails to pay their seasonal debt within 2 weeks of the end of the NFL regular season, said member will forfeit 1st week of the next season.
Each member must resolve all outstanding fees from previous season to participate in the next season.
In the event of a tie at the end of the season, the pool winnings shall be split equally between each of the seasonal winning members.
Seasonal winner(s) will no longer be paid 1 six pack of beer by each other member.

11/24/2016 –
Official weekly and seasonal scoring record will be kept in Excel spreadsheet by the season nominated league secretary.
Each member of the league may request a copy of the weekly or seasonal scoring at any time.

League trophy will always be stored at Bill Ferguson’s house.

9/12/2020 –
In the case the NFL cancels the season early, then the winner of the Ferguson Family Football Trophy will be awarded to the player(s) with the most amount of wins to date in the season. (Requires a minimum of 8 weeks played in the season). In the case the NFL cancels their season early, the league payout will be paid out as follows: $5/week/losing player * total weeks played = total payout awarded to the league winner(s).

10/20/2021
Due to the case that the NFL extended their regular season to 18 games instead of 17 games starting this year, the Ferguson Family Football Pool’s constitution will be updated for the 2021 season and until otherwise noted to also be played for 18 weeks instead of 17 weeks. The league member with the most amount of weekly wins after 18 weeks will be deemed the winner for the year.
